Tom John Marsters (born four August 1945) is that the seventh Queen’s Representative to the Cook Islands. he’s a former Deputy Leader of the Cook Islands Party and Deputy Prime Minister of the Cook Islands.

Personal life

Tom Marsters was born on Palmerston Island and educated at Nikao and Avarua Primary colleges before attending Avele Agriculture school in Samoa and Grimsby Institute of Technology within the United Kingdom. Before getting into politics he worked as a employee. Tom Marsters was Secretary of the Cook Islands Party from 1968 to 1999.
He was initial nonappointive to Parliament for the seat of Murienua during a by-election in 1991.


Marsters served as Minister of Works within the assembly of Geoffrey Henry, however resigned his position in 1997 in protest at budget cuts. He later served as a Minister within the initial coalition assembly of parliamentarian Woonton from 2002, however was ravaged in 2003 when a coalition realignment. Tom Marsters rejoined cabinet when the 2004 election, once Woonton was making an attempt to place along a replacement coalition; once Woonton resigned to fight a by-election, he served within the cabiney of Jim Marurai, holding the portfolios of foreign affairs, transport, and youth and sport.

In August 2005, Marurai ravaged Cook Islands Party leader Geoffrey Henry from assembly, inflicting the CIP to rethink its role in government. A month later, Tom Marsters was additionally ravaged, and also the coalition formally dissolved.
